Remove Glue From Basement Floor

Instead of pouring your water directly on the floor lay a fresh towel over the area you intend to clean.

A rented floor sander or a floor buffing machine with a sanding disk should get the job done. Spread some kitty litter on the floor to help soak up the black liquid glue. Use an aggressive grit to get the bulk of the glue off and then switch to a finer grit in the 300 s range should suffice to finalize the sanding across the floor. The hot water loosens the glue by melting it and makes it easier to work with when cleaning.

Place a towel over the glue residue. After you ve scraped as much off as you can you can try hot boiling water to soften the glue. Pour the hot water on the floor and let it sit for a couple minutes. If necessary use multiple towels to cover the whole area.

Start by softening the glue residue with a natural glue remover like boiling water then continue scrubbing until the glue detaches from the flooring. Use a powerful adhesive glue remover. Just a small area of concrete to remove the glue. When or if the adhesive becomes soft scrape it again to remove what s left.

Wait a few minutes for it to begin to soften then scrape up what remains. Aim a heat gun at the adhesive or hold an iron a few inches above it. Use the razor scraper to remove the glue once it is soft. When the glue starts to become pliable use your scraper tool to work it out of the concrete.

This will allow the glue residue to heat up and absorb moisture more evenly. A simple hand floor scraper has a metal blade mounted on a handle. Work in small sections so that you can remove the softened carpet glue before the water cools. Never place a hot object directly on the glue.
